Catalan national identity, Democratic Referendums, Human Rights,...
That is all well and good, but what about the things that really matter in life, like watching FC Barcelona defeat Real Madrid in the Champions League final?
The illegal referendum celebrated the 1st of October (in which only 37.8% of the total Catalan electorate voted for independence) was the promise of a new golden Republic.
But among all the false golden promises made by Catalan leaders to their fervent followers, one was specially mischievous. And we are not talking about telling people that the European Union would celebrate and embrace them the day after the vote, without hesitation. The false promise we refer to is telling football fans that in case of Independence, FC Barcelona would still be able to play La Liga (the spanish football league) or, worst case scenario, the french league.
In Catalonia, where FC Barcelona has more followers than all religions combined including yoga in its five thousand variations, we have to wonder how telling the truth about such matter would have affected the Separatists vote: Maybe instead of 37.8% of the total Catalan electorate, they would have had even less.
The attached diagram explains what would happen to FC Barcelona and other Catalan football teams in case of Independence, in a format even Separatist leaders can understand.
